Joyce Bawah Mogtari, special aide to Ghana’s President-Elect John Mahama, has called for the resignation of Jean Mensa, the chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC). Speaking in an interview, Mogtari criticized the EC’s handling of the 2024 election, particularly its delays in announcing official results, which she believes contributed to post-election violence. She accused the Commission of being too partisan and incompetent, urging a complete overhaul to restore integrity. According to Mogtari, reforms at the EC will be a priority in Mahama’s administration, with the goal of removing partisanship and ensuring free and fair elections in the future. She believes that Jean Mensa should step down to allow for these necessary changes.
