In compliance with the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (Act 845), President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has announced government representatives for the 2024 Transition Team. The appointments aim to facilitate the smooth transfer of executive power to President-elect John Dramani Mahama’s incoming administration.
The Transition Team, inaugurated on December 11, 2024, is co-chaired by President Akufo-Addo and President-elect Mahama. Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, Chief of Staff, will act as Co-Chairperson in the President’s absence.

Additional members include Dr. Evans Aggrey-Darkoh (Head of Civil Service), Dr. Nana Ato Arthur (Head of Local Government Service), Ambassador Mercy Debrah-Karikari (Cabinet Secretary), and Edward Asomani (National Security Coordinator).
Advisory Council
The Transition Advisory Council includes Rt. Hon. Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye, a former Speaker of Parliament, with current Speaker Alban Bagbin serving as its Chairperson.
Purpose of the Transition Team
The Transition Team is tasked with ensuring a seamless and efficient handover of executive authority, safeguarding stability, and fostering continuity in governance. This process underscores Ghana’s democratic principles and commitment to good governance.
