EC Awaits Results from Four Regions to Declare 2024 Presidential Election Winner.

The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has announced that it is awaiting results from four remaining regions—Greater Accra, Upper East, Savannah, and Ashanti—before declaring the winner of the December 7, 2024, presidential election.

Speaking at the National Collation Centre in Accra on December 9, 2024, Fred Tetteh, Deputy Director of Research and Evaluation at the EC, confirmed that results from 12 regions, including Ahafo, Western North, and Volta, have been received. However, collated results from the Eastern Region exclude Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Suhum, and Akwatia constituencies.

Mr. Tetteh urged Ghanaians to remain patient, assuring that the EC is committed to ensuring accuracy in the declaration process. He stated, “We are within the 32 to 35-hour timeline after polls closed and doing our best to finalize the process.”

The EC reaffirmed its promise to announce the results within the constitutionally mandated 72-hour period.

The 2024 elections saw high voter turnout as citizens elected both their president and parliamentarians. Jean Mensa, Chairperson of the EC, will officially declare the presidential results.
