EC Appeals for Patience: 72-Hour Window for Presidential Results Declaration.

The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has called on the public to remain calm and patient as it works within the 72-hour legal timeframe to declare the results of the 2024 presidential elections.

During a press conference, EC Chairperson Jean Mensa explained that the commission is meticulously following the required process to ensure the credibility of the results.

Current Progress:
So far, only the collated results from the Ahafo Region have been received, with 15 regions still pending. Mrs. Mensa emphasized that the process, which includes collation and verification at constituency, regional, and national levels, is inclusive and transparent, involving political parties and observers at every stage.

Key Quote:

“Citizens should exercise patience. It’s just been 23 hours. The process is elaborate and inclusive to ensure that the final outcome is accepted by all.”

This reassurance comes in response to complaints from the public and political parties, notably the NDC, about perceived delays in the announcement.

As the EC continues its work, it has urged all parties and citizens to respect the process and trust that the true will of Ghanaians will be reflected in the final declaration.
