The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has granted all media houses access to its national election results collation centre, promoting transparency in the 2024 election process. This is a shift from its earlier decision to limit media participation.
At a press briefing, EC Chairperson Jean Mensa highlighted the commission’s commitment to openness and accountability. “The commission has accredited 10,000 journalists to cover all aspects of the election process,” she stated, adding that the collation centre is equipped with advanced systems to ensure accurate results.
The EC also introduced a toll-free hotline for real-time issue resolution, encouraging citizens to report concerns promptly. Mensa expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of voting across over 38,000 polling stations nationwide.
The collation centre in Accra will serve as the hub for validating results from 276 constituencies, providing frequent updates on the election’s progress.
Mensa urged all stakeholders to work together to ensure peace and credibility during the process. The centre’s updates will culminate in the declaration of Ghana’s next president and parliamentary representatives.
