The Ghana Police Service is investigating an alleged attack on the convoy of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, which reportedly occurred on December 2, 2024, in Techiman, Bono East Region.
According to a police statement, the incident happened as the Asantehene was returning from a funeral in Nkoranza. Some youth, believed to be residents of Techiman, allegedly threw stones at buses in the convoy.
The police have confirmed engaging with the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi and other stakeholders in Techiman to aid their ongoing investigation.
“We urge the public to remain calm and cooperate with the Police as the investigation into the matter continues,” the statement added.
This incident has drawn widespread attention due to the stature of the Asantehene, one of Ghana’s most prominent traditional leaders.
