40 Missing ECG Containers Discovered in Tamale Warehouse

The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has confirmed that security agencies have tracked down 40 of the over 1,300 missing containers belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG). These containers were found in a warehouse located in Pong-Tamale, Northern Region.

Speaking on Joy FM, Mr. Jinapor stated that National Security and law enforcement officials have seized the recovered containers and are moving them to a secure location. The warehouse, owned by an Indian businessman, allegedly contained containers he claimed to have purchased last year. Authorities are now conducting a criminal investigation to determine how they ended up there.

The minister assured the public that all missing containers would be traced, and those responsible would face legal action. He also warned against politicizing the issue, emphasizing that the stolen items belong to the state and must be recovered.

The disappearance of these ECG containers, believed to contain essential electrical materials for projects, has sparked concerns over state asset management.
