Western North Minister Declares War on Illegal Mining

The Western North Regional Minister, Wilbert Petty Brentum, has vowed to crack down on illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey, without favoritism. He emphasized that no one, including friends and family, will be spared if found engaging in mining within forest reserves or water bodies.

According to Mr. Brentum, the Regional Security Council has launched an intensified campaign to root out illegal miners, with a renewed focus on tackling illegal logging as well.

“As a nation, we acknowledge the importance of mining, but we have clear laws that prohibit mining in forest reserves and water bodies,” he stressed.

Issuing a stern warning, he added, “If you are involved in these illegal activities, we will come after you. Even if you are my friend or relative, do not expect any help from me.”
