A heavy downpour accompanied by strong winds caused significant damage at the A&C Mall in East Legon, Accra, on Tuesday evening. The severe weather led to the collapse of the solar panel car park shed, damaging over 50 vehicles.
Viral videos on social media show the moment the shelter covering the parking area was torn down by the powerful winds, trapping several cars underneath the debris. Some of the cars were also damaged by fallen trees in the car park.
The collapse has resulted in substantial losses for both vehicle owners and the mall. In response, the A&C Mall has assured the public of ongoing safety assessments and measures to prevent future incidents.
