Samuel Nartey George, Ghana’s Minister for Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, has authorized the termination of nearly 100 staff members at Ghana Post due to irregularities in their recruitment process. This decision is part of an ongoing rationalization effort aimed at improving the efficiency of the ministry and its agencies.
In a statement to the press, Minister George highlighted the challenges he faced when taking office, including an inflated workforce. He noted that of the 3,117 staff members in the ministry and its agencies, 600 were hired after the December 7, 2024 elections, which he described as a problematic period for recruitment.
The terminations specifically target the staff recruited after the elections. Minister George assured that this rationalization process would continue to ensure accountability and improved efficiency in the sector.
