Fire Breaks Out at Adum Railways Trading Area, Causing Major Disruption

A devastating fire broke out early this morning at the Adum Railways Trading Area in Kumasi, causing significant damage and disruption. The blaze, which started around 5:30 a.m., rapidly spread through the area, known for its dense collection of second-hand goods such as clothing, footwear, bags, and locally made shoes. The fire was particularly intense due to the congestion in the area, and it quickly tore through several buildings, including the Despite building, which houses Hello FM, a subsidiary of Despite Media.

Firefighters faced a major challenge in containing the blaze. Five fire tenders were dispatched to the scene, but the intensity of the fire made it difficult to control. Despite their efforts, the fire continued to rage, destroying large portions of the trading zone.

In the midst of the chaos, staff from Hello FM were evacuated to safety as the fire approached the radio station’s premises. The station has temporarily suspended its operations due to the ongoing threat. Meanwhile, store operators in nearby buildings risked their safety by attempting to salvage goods from their shops.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, and investigations are expected to begin once the fire is under control. The authorities are currently focused on ensuring the safety of residents and preventing further damage in the congested area.
