In a major legal development, the Attorney General has officially dropped the treason felony charges against Oliver Barker-Vormawor, the convener of the #FixTheCountry movement. This marks the conclusion of a high-profile case that has spanned over two years, originating from Barker-Vormawor’s controversial remarks about the E-Levy.
Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine confirmed the decision, which is part of a broader move to drop several high-profile criminal cases, including those involving former COCOBOD CEO Dr. Stephen Opuni and other prominent figures.
While Barker-Vormawor celebrated the case’s end, he expressed mixed emotions, citing the personal and academic toll it had taken on him. In particular, he revealed that the prolonged case led to him losing funding for his doctoral program at Cambridge. He also made a request for his passport to be returned and his name removed from the No-Fly List.
The Attorney General’s office has yet to respond to his travel requests, leaving the final chapter of this legal saga still unfolding.
