New NFA Leadership Vows to Revamp Ghana’s Film Industry

The newly appointed leadership of the National Film Authority (NFA) has pledged to transform Ghana’s film industry by addressing key challenges and fostering collaboration among stakeholders.

At a high-level meeting held at the Accra Tourist Information Centre, Executive Secretary Madam Kafui Danku-Pitcher and Deputy Executive Secretary James Timothy Gardiner engaged with key industry players to discuss issues affecting the sector and explore solutions.

Representatives from major film associations, including the Ghana Actors’ Guild (GAG), Film Producers’ Association of Ghana (FiPAG), and the Ghana Academy of Film and Television Arts (GAFTA), attended the meeting. Discussions highlighted concerns such as limited financing, weak copyright enforcement, and the need for stronger legislative support.

Industry leaders emphasized the urgency of implementing the long-awaited Legislative Instrument (L.I.) to regulate the sector and provide tax incentives. They also called for improved training programs and a more structured approach to industry operations.

In response, the NFA leadership assured stakeholders of their commitment to open dialogue, policy reforms, and infrastructure development. The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to continuous engagement, paving the way for a more structured and globally competitive Ghanaian film industry.
