Ghana’s Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo, has announced a 23-man squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.
The squad is captained by Jordan Ayew, and includes three home-based players: Benjamin Asare (Accra Hearts of Oak), Kamaradini Mamudu (Medeama SC), and Razak Simpson (Nations FC). Deputy captain Thomas Partey (Arsenal) makes his return to the squad after missing four of Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers last year due to injury.
Other key players include Kamal Deen Sulemana (Southampton FC), Jerry Afriyie (CD Lugo), and Christopher Bonsu Baah (Genk). Bonsu Baah, an attacking midfielder, has impressed with his performances since joining Genk in 2023.
The Black Stars will begin their training camp on Monday, March 17, 2025, ahead of their first match against Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21. They will then travel to Morocco to face Madagascar on March 24.
Currently, Ghana is second in Group I with nine points from four matches. The team will be without 12 key players due to injuries, including Alidu Seidu, Tariq Lamptey, and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku.
The absence of these players will challenge Otto Addo, but he remains confident in the squad’s ability to secure critical wins as they pursue a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
