Cecilia Dapaah Testifies in Court Over $53,000 Stolen Jewelry

Former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Dapaah has testified in an Accra High Court regarding the theft of her jewelry worth $53,000, allegedly stolen by her domestic workers.

Speaking in court on Tuesday, March 11, Mrs. Dapaah revealed that aside from cash, the accused individuals took valuable personal items she had collected over the years. The theft, which reportedly occurred between July and October 2022, also included expensive clothing, kente fabric, and men’s suits belonging to her husband.

The two accused housekeepers, 18-year-old Patience Botwe and 30-year-old Sarah Agyei, have been charged with conspiracy and multiple counts of stealing. Investigations revealed that the stolen money was used to acquire properties and luxury items.

The case has drawn public scrutiny, especially after the Special Prosecutor launched investigations into Mrs. Dapaah’s wealth, leading to her resignation. Despite this, legal battles continue over the stolen funds and assets.
