Canada and Ghana Ink Landmark Air Transport Deal

In a groundbreaking agreement to boost travel and trade, Canada and Ghana have signed their first-ever air transport deal. Announced by Canada’s Transport Minister Anita Anand, the agreement grants airlines from both nations the rights to operate scheduled passenger and cargo flights. Under the deal, each country’s airlines can operate up to 14 weekly passenger flights and 10 all-cargo flights.

The agreement also allows multiple airlines to serve various destinations within both countries, increasing competition and improving travel options. Minister Anand emphasized Ghana’s growing role in Canada’s economic strategy, noting that the deal will strengthen tourism, business ties, and cultural connections.

Canada’s Minister of Export Promotion, Mary Ng, highlighted the economic benefits, stating that the agreement will support exporters and open doors for Canadian businesses in West Africa. The deal is effective immediately, and industry stakeholders anticipate increased investment, job creation, and stronger bilateral relations.
