Rainstorm Destroys 60+ Homes, Injures Five in Ashanti Region

A powerful rainstorm has wreaked havoc in Amakye-Bare, Atwima Nwabiagya District, collapsing over 60 houses and leaving at least five people injured.

The storm, which lasted only five minutes, brought strong winds that caused significant damage, displacing more than 100 residents. Some victims were trapped under collapsed buildings but were rescued in time.

Assembly member Collins Osei-Tutu confirmed that one family, including a man, his wife, and their children, sustained injuries when their house collapsed. Additionally, workers in a container were swept away but survived.

A local traditional ruler has covered the medical bills of the injured, while residents are calling for government and NGO support to help rebuild homes. The district assembly and NADMO have been informed and are expected to provide relief.
