Former Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Gifty Oware-Mensah, is set to return to Ghana on Tuesday afternoon, but sources indicate she will be arrested upon arrival at Kotoka International Airport.
The National Investigation Bureau (NIB) is reportedly waiting to take her into custody for questioning over allegations of payroll fraud at the NSS, where ghost names were allegedly used to siphon GH₵50 million monthly.
Supporters from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), under whose administration she served, are said to be mobilizing to accompany her to the NIB office.
Meanwhile, the government has begun extradition efforts to bring back other key suspects who have reportedly fled the country. Recently, another former Deputy Executive Director of the NSS, Kwaku Ohene Djan, was also detained and questioned in connection with the same scandal.
