Gov’t Sets Up Special Passport Centre for Hajj Pilgrims, Reduces Fees

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced the establishment of a special passport centre dedicated to processing applications for 2025 Hajj pilgrims.

Speaking at the Hajj Village on March 4, Ablakwa emphasized that the initiative aims to ease travel preparations for Ghanaian Muslims undertaking the pilgrimage. The centre will operate from March 4 to March 13, 2025.

To further support pilgrims, the government has reduced the cost of expedited passport processing from GH¢700 to GH¢500, with applications being completed within three days. Additionally, regional kiosks will be set up to extend the service beyond Accra.

The initiative has been widely welcomed by the Muslim community, who praise the government’s proactive approach to improving travel accessibility.
