Kanvili Kpawmo Residents Demand Water After Three-Month Dry Spell

Residents of Kanvili Kpawmo in the Sagnarigu Municipality are outraged over Ghana Water Company Limited’s (GWCL) failure to supply tap water for over three months. Despite the prolonged shortage, households continue to receive and pay water bills, sparking widespread frustration.

The last time water flowed in the area was December 14, 2024. Since then, residents have been forced to rely on expensive water tankers and sachet water, increasing their cost of living and raising health concerns.

“It’s unfair that we are paying for water we haven’t received in months,” a resident lamented, accusing GWCL of prioritizing revenue over service.

A statement by community member Lazarus Avonsige emphasized the growing distrust in GWCL’s commitment to public service. The affected residents are demanding the immediate restoration of water supply and a fair billing system that reflects actual usage.

They have also urged regulatory bodies to step in and ensure public utilities prioritize service delivery over profits.
