Pastor in Court Over GH₵310K Visa Fraud Case

A Tema-based charismatic pastor, Cris Karl Ofori, has been arraigned before the Dansoman Circuit Court for allegedly defrauding a businessman of GH₵310,000 under the pretense of securing visas for him and his family.

The victim, Amadu Seidu from Sampa, was introduced to Ofori by an acquaintance in 2023. He initially paid GH₵80,000 along with three passports to begin the process. However, after multiple payments, the pastor failed to secure the promised Canadian visas and later claimed to have obtained UK visas instead.

When Seidu and his family arrived in Accra for their supposed trip, Ofori went into hiding, prompting a police report. He was eventually arrested and, in his caution statement, admitted to the offense. The court has granted him bail of GH₵350,000 with three sureties, and the case has been adjourned to April 25, 2025.
