Deadly Clash in Bunkprugu/Nakpanduri Leaves Three Burnt Beyond Recognition

A violent attack in Nanik, located in the Bunkprugu/Nakpanduri district of the North East Region, has resulted in the deaths of three individuals whose bodies were burned beyond recognition. The attack, which occurred on February 28, is linked to ongoing tensions between two neighboring communities over the elevation of the Chief of Nanik to paramount status.

Among the victims was 27-year-old teacher Nashiru Maijida, originally from Walewale, who had been posted to Nanik two years ago. His remains, along with the others, have been sent to Binde Hospital for autopsy.

The attack is believed to have been carried out by members of a rival faction from Bimbagu. Reports indicate that nearly 50 houses were torched, and several properties were destroyed.
