The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has lifted the suspension of four Members of Parliament (MPs) following a heated vetting session on January 30, 2025. The MPs—Rockson Nelson Dafeamakpor (South Dayi), Frank Annor-Dompreh (Nsawam-Adoagyiri), Alhassan Sulemana Tampuli (Gushiegu), and Jerry Ahmed Shaib (Weija-Gbawe)—were barred from parliamentary proceedings after a tense confrontation over procedural disagreements.
The decision to reinstate them came after Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin and Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga jointly appealed to the Speaker, stressing the importance of unity and smooth legislative operations. Their suspension had briefly disrupted proceedings, leading to a Minority walkout.
With their return, parliamentary activities are expected to continue without further disruptions, as lawmakers focus on reviewing key ministerial nominations, including the vetting of Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, which had already sparked intense scrutiny.
