Wisdom Ahli, the second preacher involved in the case of damaging vehicle windscreens at Ghana’s Parliament, has been granted bail. Ahli was released on bail in the sum of GH¢50,000 with two sureties after a bail application was made on his behalf. The Circuit Court, presided over by Samuel Bright Acquah, adjourned the matter to February 27, 2025.
Ahli’s co-accused, Kofi Okyere Sorkpa, who also participated in the destruction, was sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to causing damage to five vehicles at the Parliament Car Park on December 20, 2024. Sorkpa’s sentence includes a three-year term for conspiracy, with the sentences to run concurrently.
The police report revealed that Sorkpa and Ahli, both preachers from Kasoa, entered the Parliament car park on December 18, 2024, where Sorkpa used an earth chisel to damage the windscreens of two Toyota Land Cruisers, two Toyota Camrys, and a Toyota Rav 4. Ahli was reportedly seen praising Sorkpa for the damage, and both men admitted their involvement in the crime during questioning.
