The Kofi Job Foundation has donated GH₵1 million in health support to two children battling cancer, helping their families cover treatment costs.
Two-year-old Halila is undergoing treatment for retinoblastoma, a type of eye cancer, while another child is receiving care for Wilms tumor, a kidney cancer. The Kumasi South Hospital estimated the treatment for both children to cost at least GH₵60,000, a sum their families struggled to raise.
The treatment plan, as explained by Dr. Alimatu Salam, a paediatrician at the hospital, involves chemotherapy followed by surgery, with chemotherapy being administered at the hospital and surgery conducted at KATH.
Halila’s mother, Ernestina Kwarko, shared how her daughter’s eye condition worsened over time, making the financial burden even heavier.
Thanks to the Kofi Job Foundation’s generous donation, GH₵120,000 has been allocated to cover the children’s medical bills, and additional funds have been provided to assist with the upkeep of the families. The Foundation also cleared medical debts at Kumasi South Hospital, helped procure equipment for the Manhyia Government Hospital, and supported Tafo Government Hospital in similar ways.
