The Wenchi Methodist Hospital in the Bono Region is set to conduct a mass burial for 28 unclaimed and unidentified bodies that have been in the hospital’s morgue for nearly three years. This initiative aims to alleviate the congestion that has hampered smooth operations at the facility.
A statement from the Wenchi Municipal Coordinating Director, Jimah Yakubu, explained that the hospital had made repeated efforts to reach out to families for identification, but no progress was made.
To address the issue, the Environmental Health Unit of the Wenchi Municipal Assembly and hospital management have scheduled the burial between January 23 and January 31, 2025. Families or individuals with missing relatives are encouraged to contact the hospital urgently to identify and collect the remains before the deadline.
The hospital emphasized that clearing the morgue would not only decongest the facility but also ensure a dignified burial for the deceased.
