The Ministry of the Interior has extended the curfew in Bawku Municipality and surrounding areas in the Upper East Region. Effective January 20, 2025, the new curfew hours are from 8:00 pm to 5:00 am, as stated in a press release signed by the Chief Director of the Ministry.
The Ministry urged local leaders, including chiefs and elders, to promote peace through non-violent means despite ongoing challenges. Additionally, a strict ban on carrying weapons in the area has been imposed, with offenders facing arrest and prosecution.
This measure aims to curb unrest and ensure safety in the region, which has faced longstanding security concerns.
