GJA Sets March Deadline for Update on Ahmed Suale’s Murder Case.

The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has given authorities until the end of March 2025 to provide a significant update on the unresolved murder of investigative journalist Ahmed Suale. At a press conference in Accra, GJA President Albert Kwabena Dwumfour expressed disappointment over the lack of progress six years after the assassination.

Mr. Dwumfour criticized the police for their poor handling of the case and warned that if no satisfactory update is provided, the GJA will take the matter to the ECOWAS Community Court of Justice. This decision follows claims by MP Kwame Asare-Obeng (A-Plus), who alleged he gave police information about suspects but has seen no action.

The GJA also pledged to escalate journalist Latif Iddrisu’s 2018 assault case to the same court if no action is taken by the March deadline. International organizations, including the Federation of African Journalists (FAJ), have expressed solidarity, urging justice for these cases to combat impunity against journalists in Ghana.
