The European Union (EU) and the Netherlands Embassy in Ghana have introduced the Youth Sounding Board (YSB) Ghana, an initiative to empower young leaders to influence policies and programs that impact their lives and communities. This effort aligns with the EU’s global commitment to supporting youth development.
The YSB will consist of a diverse and inclusive group of Ghanaian youth aged 18 to 32, chosen based on their leadership skills, community involvement, and innovative ideas. Selected members will serve a two-year term, offering guidance to the EU and Netherlands Embassy on youth-centric policies, collaborating with local and international stakeholders, and assessing relevant projects across the country.
Speaking at the launch in Accra, EU Ambassador Irchad Razaaly emphasized the importance of youth engagement in shaping Ghana’s future, focusing on issues like economic development, education, and social equity. Netherlands Ambassador Jeroen Verheul highlighted the collaboration between the EU’s development initiatives and the Netherlands’ investment-focused programs, aiming to create opportunities for Ghanaian youth.
Applications for the YSB opened on January 21 and close on February 20, 2025, providing a platform for young changemakers to advocate for inclusive development and influence national and international policies.
