Fire Displaces Dozens in Nima-Moke Slum.

A devastating fire in Nima-Moke, a slum in Ashanti Region’s Asokore Mampong Municipality, has left dozens of residents homeless. The fire, which broke out around 4:30 p.m. on January 17, 2025, destroyed over 50 wooden homes and displaced families.

Eyewitnesses report that most of the residents were away at local markets during the blaze, unable to salvage their belongings. The fire spread rapidly, exacerbated by the area’s highly combustible materials. This tragedy follows a similar fire that occurred in the area in 2020, further deepening the community’s hardships.
