Ghanaian broadcaster Serwaa Amihere has shared her emotional journey of coping with depression after an intimate video allegedly involving her was leaked in 2024. At the Ignite Youth Empowerment Thanksgiving Service, Serwaa discussed the personal impact of the incident, revealing how it led to a difficult period for her.
During the service, Serwaa reflected on the emotional toll, stating, “I was depressed and crying at home that day.” She explained that her close friend, Obuobia Darko-Opoku, played a crucial role in helping her navigate the emotional strain. Obuobia’s thoughtful gesture of taking Serwaa to buy ice cream and offering support was a lifeline during a time when Serwaa felt isolated.
Despite the turmoil, Serwaa expressed deep gratitude for Obuobia’s unwavering kindness, saying, “It did me a lot of good.” She also emphasized the importance of making wise decisions, warning young people that choices made in the present could have far-reaching consequences.
The video, which surfaced in April 2024, sparked a media frenzy, prompting an independent investigation by Serwaa’s employer, EIB Network. The investigation, released in July 2024, cleared her of any misconduct, while criminal proceedings were initiated against those responsible for the leak.
