Officers Brutally Attacked by Mob in Akrofuom.

A police constable and three Community Assistance Police (CAP) officers were viciously attacked by a mob of approximately 50 people in Akrofuom on January 15, 2025. The officers, part of the Obuasi Divisional Police Command, were attempting to arrest a suspect, Sibuba, for allegedly threatening harm against a complainant.

During the arrest, the suspect requested to make a phone call to inform his family. Shortly after, a mob armed with various weapons arrived, overpowering and assaulting the officers. The attackers confiscated an AK47 rifle from one of the officers and left them severely injured in a nearby bush.

Reinforcements later arrived to rescue the injured personnel, who were rushed to the Obuasi Government Hospital. They have since been discharged. Police have confirmed that the stolen rifle was recovered following the incident.

This attack underscores rising challenges in maintaining law and order in the area.
