Walewale Residents Injured in Alleged Military Assault.

Dozens of residents in Walewale, North East Region, have reportedly sustained serious injuries following a violent operation by armed military personnel. Witnesses say the soldiers forced people to lie down, beat them with wire cans, and subjected some to brutal treatment using mesh wire.

Victims, including shopkeepers and NDC supporters, suffered fractures and lacerations, with at least two receiving care from a traditional bone specialist.

The motive for the attack remains unclear, but police sources suggest it may be tied to the burning of a truck transporting vegetables, allegedly linked to the ongoing Bawku conflict.

One victim, a motorbike mechanic, recounted being attacked with his customers while working. Another, a 67-year-old NDC supporter, accused the military of acting on false allegations and called on regional NDC leadership to intervene.

The town is now reeling from the incident, with calls for accountability and a thorough investigation into the military’s actions growing louder.
