A tragic incident in Nasarawa State, Nigeria, has left the country in shock as 24-year-old Salome Adaidu was allegedly beheaded by gospel singer Timileyin Ajayi, who was found with her severed head in a bag. The gruesome discovery occurred on Sunday near a church, leading to Ajayi’s arrest by the police.
The police were alerted when Ajayi’s actions drew attention, and they were able to rescue him from a mob before taking him into custody. Further investigation revealed other dismembered body parts of the victim found at his home. Ajayi has not yet commented on the allegations.
Adaidu, a member of the National Youth Service Corps serving in Abuja, was not believed to be in a relationship with the suspect. Her family, still reeling from the tragic loss, has called for justice, urging the government to ensure a thorough investigation and prosecution.
A friend of the deceased expressed deep sorrow, particularly for Adaidu’s mother, who had just lost her husband months prior. “Nobody deserves to die this way,” the friend stated, highlighting the senseless nature of the crime.
The family has also voiced concerns over the police’s handling of the case, with Adaidu’s sister calling for Nigerians’ support to ensure justice is served.
The incident has sparked outrage on social media, with many Nigerians sending messages of solidarity and demanding justice for the young woman.
