President Mahama Orders Emergency Food Redistribution to SHS.

President John Dramani Mahama has instructed the Chief of Staff and the Ghana Education Service (GES) to swiftly evacuate food stored in Tema warehouses to Senior High Schools (SHS) nationwide. This directive aims to address a pressing food shortage that arose after schools reopened on January 3, 2025, against the advice of the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools.

Speaking at a Christian National Thanksgiving Service held at the University for Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), the President explained that the stored food, originally imported in response to drought conditions in Northern Ghana, will now serve as an emergency solution for SHS feeding.

President Mahama also highlighted education as a core element of his “reset agenda,” committing to improving infrastructure, teacher resources, and access to technology. He announced plans for a National Education Review Conference to address systemic challenges and forge a path toward quality education in Ghana.

The event was attended by Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, First Lady Lordina Mahama, key NDC members, and prominent religious leaders.
