Statue of Former President Akufo-Addo Vandalized Again in Sekondi.

The statue of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, located at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi, has been vandalized once again. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of January 13, 2025, left the statue severely damaged from the head to the knee.

Police were alerted to the scene but arrived after the damage had been done. This marks the second attack on the statue, which was repaired just a month earlier in December 2024 after suffering damage to one of its legs.

Unveiled in November 2024 to honor the former president, the statue has been a subject of controversy among residents, some of whom question its necessity amidst more pressing community needs. The repeated destruction has fueled speculation about whether the incidents are acts of deliberate vandalism or flaws in the statue’s construction.

The police are investigating the latest attack, though the exact cause remains unclear.
