Four independent Members of Parliament have decided to collaborate with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Majority Caucus in Parliament. The Majority Chief Whip, Kwame Governs Agbodza, announced this during a parliamentary discussion but noted that official communication is yet to be made to the Speaker.
The MPs include Dr. Ohene Kwame Frimpong (Asante Akim North), Nandaya Yaw Stanley (Wulensi), Kwame Asare Obeng, aka Kwame A Plus (Gomoa Central), and Worlasi Kpeli (Afram Plains North), an NDC member who contested independently.
These MPs lack the numbers to form a third caucus, so they are required to individually notify the Speaker of their decision to join the Majority for parliamentary business. Until this happens, the Speaker, Alban Bagbin, stated their decisions would not be recorded officially.
This development could alter the composition of Parliament’s Selection Committee, which is responsible for assigning MPs to various parliamentary committees.
