Thugs Steal Food Supplies for Schools in Northern Region.

A group of unidentified criminals raided the Buffer Stock Company warehouse in Ghana’s Northern Region, stealing over 150 bags of maize and other food supplies meant for Senior High Schools (SHS). The theft, which is expected to affect 15 schools, occurred after just three schools had collected their supplies. This is the second time the warehouse has been targeted by thieves, who have also raided other warehouses in the region since December, stealing agricultural products and supplies.

The Headmaster of Ghana Senior High School, Douglas Haruna Yakubu, expressed concerns that the theft could worsen the food shortages schools are already anticipating. Bukari Dahmani, Coordinator for Free SHS in the Northern Region, warned that this could delay the reopening of schools unless the government steps in to address the issue. The raid at the Buffer Stock warehouse follows a pattern of criminal activity in the area, including previous incidents involving the Tamale Metro Assembly and other local institutions.
