The Wenchi West District of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church in the Bono Region has honored 20 girls aged 13-16 for preserving their virginity. During a special thanksgiving service, the girls were recognized and awarded undisclosed sums for their upkeep. Mrs. Nana Amponsah Poku, the District Coordinator of the Young Adventist Women Ministries, praised the girls for their commitment and urged them to protect their virginity until marriage. She also emphasized the importance of reintroducing traditional rites like Bragoro or Dipo to safeguard young girls from promiscuity and teenage pregnancies.
Pastor Andrews Dua Bour Kyere, Associate Pastor of the district, also commended the girls and encouraged others to remain focused on education and purity. The honored girls expressed gratitude for the church’s support in their spiritual development.
