President John Dramani Mahama has revoked the appointments of all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCES) who served under the previous Akufo-Addo administration. This decision, effective immediately, was communicated in a letter signed by Dr. Callistus Mahama, the Secretary to the President.
The action aligns with President Mahama’s vision to restructure local governance and ensure it supports the policies of his new government. The move is backed by the authority granted under the Local Government Act, 2016 (Act 936) and its 2017 amendment, Act 940. By this directive, all appointments made under these sections of the law have been nullified.
