The Ghana Police Service has deployed additional officers and intensified patrols nationwide to ensure public safety during New Year’s Eve celebrations. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Grace Ansah-Akrofi announced that traffic officers would be stationed at key intersections and roads near churches and entertainment venues hosting large gatherings.
The enhanced measures include increased highway and residential patrols, protection of faith-based events, and safeguarding critical infrastructure. The Police have also issued a strong warning to religious organizations against spreading fear-inducing “false prophecies” that could cause public panic.
ACP Ansah-Akrofi commended Ghanaians for their cooperation in maintaining peace throughout the year and assured the public of the Police’s commitment to ensuring a safe and peaceful transition into the New Year.
