Ashanti GMA Condemns Attack on Divisional Chairman’s Residence, Calls for Justice.

he Ashanti Division of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has strongly condemned a violent attack on the residence of its Divisional Chairman, Dr. (Med) Paa Kwesi Baidoo. The incident, which occurred on the evening of December 18, 2024, left Dr. Baidoo’s wife and two-year-old son trapped and traumatised.

According to a statement from the GMA, unknown individuals invaded the premises and cut down a large tree, causing it to crash onto the house. The impact damaged the roof and several personal belongings inside. Despite cries for help, the attackers fled, leaving passers-by to assist the family out of the house.

Dr. Baidoo, who was at work during the attack, rushed home after being alerted and has since filed a formal complaint with the Ashanti Regional Police Headquarters in Kumasi.

The GMA described the act as “wicked and callous” and called for swift action, including:

  • Immediate investigations and arrest of the perpetrators.
  • Prosecution and punishment of the culprits.
  • Compensation for Dr. Baidoo’s family for the damages and emotional trauma.

The association has also demanded police protection for Dr. Baidoo and his family, pledging cooperation with law enforcement while warning of potential actions if the case is not resolved expeditiously.

“As a law-abiding association, we will give the police enough time to work, but we cannot be held responsible for any drastic actions should the matter not be handled promptly,” the GMA emphasized.

The Ashanti GMA has assured the public of its commitment to ensuring justice and will closely monitor developments.
