Billionaire businessman Deji Adeleke has formally denied long running claims that his son, Afrobeats star Davido, is the father of a 12 year old girl named Anuoluwapo from Ibadan. He described the allegations as false and blamed years of misinformation and alleged impersonation by commentator Kemi Olunloyo.
Adeleke said he has five children and 14 grandchildren and would gladly welcome another grandchild if paternity were ever confirmed. He explained that he decided to speak publicly because the same story resurfaces almost every year on social media.
He traced the case back to 2014, when he received a DHL package from Ibadan containing photos of Davido and the child, a birth certificate naming “Adeleke David” as the father and a letter from the girl’s grandmother. The widow asked only for a DNA test to confirm paternity and responsibility, not marriage or money.
Adeleke said he immediately contacted the family, verified their address and arranged a DNA test at Vedic Lifecare Hospital in Lekki, Lagos, where samples from Davido and the child were collected in the presence of both families and sent to South Africa for analysis.
According to him, the result put the probability of paternity at zero percent and clearly stated that Davido is not the father. He said the grandmother cried when she saw the result and that he then offered to fund two more tests at other reputable centres.
In total, he said five DNA tests have been conducted over the years, all excluding Davido as the child’s father. Adeleke refused to release the reports publicly, arguing that exposing anyone’s DNA profile is dangerous and could pose security risks to both Davido and the minor.
He urged the public to ignore misleading online narratives and impersonations. The latest round of controversy followed a supposed Instagram post in which the girl asked for a DNA test over bullying and identity issues, and Davido’s response restating that he had never met the mother and that previous tests cleared him.
The girl’s mother, Ayo Labinjo, has disputed the account, claiming only one test was done and alleging irregularities, while calling for a fresh independent test possibly supervised by the US Embassy. Adeleke ended his statement by stressing the family’s goodwill and calling for an end to the allegations.
