The Kano State government says it will leverage the Cycling Kano Championship, scheduled for December 20, 2025, to stimulate commerce, tourism, and healthy living across the state.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth and Sports Development, Sani Musa Danja, disclosed this while highlighting preparations for the event, themed “Health and Wellness.”
Kano State recently entered a strategic partnership with BrandEscort Communications, a leading brand and event marketing firm, to host Cycling Kano 2025 — a landmark sporting event designed to promote tourism, youth engagement, and fitness.
According to organisers, the event will gather professional cyclists, fitness enthusiasts, and sports lovers nationwide, with activities kicking off at the Sani Abacha Stadium.
Danja said the annual event is aimed at:
- Encouraging healthy lifestyles and regular exercise.
- Promoting healthy competition among young people and corporate organisations.
- Discovering and nurturing cycling talent.
- Elevating cycling as a major sport in Nigeria.
“We believe this event presents a unique opportunity for corporate brands to align with the positive values of health, wellness, and community development,” Danja noted.
He added that the Kano State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development would coordinate logistics, secure race routes, and mobilise funding alongside the Kano State Cycling Association and other stakeholders.
On his part, Bamidele Adeleye, Managing Director of BrandEscort Communications, praised the government for its support, stressing that Cycling Kano would serve as a model for public-private partnerships in sports.
“This partnership demonstrates the power of collaboration in driving innovation and impact. Cycling Kano 2025 will not only inspire healthy lifestyles but also create opportunities for tourism, investment, and brand visibility,” Adeleye said.
The Cycling Kano 2025 programme will feature a mini tour of Kano, competitive cycling races, family fun rides, cultural displays, and exhibitions of local products and services. The event is expected to attract thousands of participants from across Nigeria, reinforcing Kano’s position as a gateway to Northern Nigeria.
