
Ahmed Musa Calls for Action Over Benue Bloodshed
Former Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has urged Nigerian political leaders to act urgently over the recent spate of killings in Benue State .
He condemned the attacks, calling them “another wave of heartbreaking killings” and said enough is enough.
“How many more lives must be lost before real action is taken?”
Musa made his statement on X (formerly Twitter) , where he called on leaders to go beyond condemnation.
“We can’t keep talking and moving on. Don’t wait until it happens close to home—speak out now.”
“Governance Is Not Just For Election Season” – Musa
Musa stressed that leadership should not only show up during election time.
“Governance is not seasonal. We need consistent action, not just appearances when votes are needed.”
He added:
“Benue deserves peace. Nigeria deserves better.”
His message resonated with many Nigerians who feel frustrated by the lack of decisive steps to stop the cycle of violence across the country.
Over 200 Lives Lost in Yelwata Attack
Reports say more than 200 people died in a recent attack in Yelwata, Guma Local Government Area .
Most of the victims were displaced persons seeking shelter at a local Catholic mission .
Benue Governor Fr. Hyacinth Alia said the attackers — believed to be armed herders — entered the community through a river.
They first targeted security checkpoints before attacking civilians.
President Tinubu To Visit Benue
In response to the worsening situation, President Bola Tinubu is expected to visit Benue State on Wednesday to assess the security crisis and meet with local leaders.
The visit comes amid growing public demand for urgent intervention from the federal government.
