2Baba: “This Thing Has to Stop”
Nigerian music icon Innocent “2Baba” Idibia has issued a passionate plea for justice following the latest wave of violence in Benue State , his home state.
In an emotional Instagram video, the award-winning singer expressed deep sadness and frustration over the recurring attacks that have claimed hundreds of lives in recent weeks.
As the Technical Adviser to the Benue State Governor on Entertainment and Community Outreach , 2Baba’s words carry both personal and political weight.
“It’s annoying,” he said.
“I don’t even know where to start—my sadness, my grief, my anger.”
A Cry for National Intervention
2Baba described the situation in Benue as a national emergency , urging leaders at all levels to stop issuing routine condemnations and take real action.
“This thing is not funny anymore. It’s gone beyond just condemning.”
He called for unity among stakeholders, saying:
“Every serious action needs to start taking place. Every stakeholder must come together to fight this darkness.”
He stressed that the cycle of violence has become too frequent , too absurd , and too dangerous to ignore.
“We need a solution. Let’s be serious about this solution.”
Heartbroken But Determined
The veteran musician admitted he was struggling to process the pain caused by the senseless loss of lives.
“My heart is heavy. I’m terribly sad. I’m terribly angry.”
He urged leaders not to allow the tragedy to fade into silence after a few days of outrage.
“It’s going to be business as usual—condemn the people, move on. This has to stop.”
He emphasized that every Nigerian must play a role in ending the crisis:
“It has to involve everybody. Every stakeholder in this country. Every stakeholder in every state.”
