UG Sports Stadium Closed for Renovations Ahead of CAF African Schools Football Championship

The University of Ghana Sports Stadium is undergoing renovations in preparation for the highly anticipated CAF African Schools Football Championship, set to take place from April 21 to April 26, 2025. This event marks a historic moment, as Ghana becomes the first West African country to host the tournament, which has previously been held in South Africa and Tanzania.As a result of the stadium's closure, some football fixtures have been moved to alternative venues. For example, Hearts of Oak recently relocated their Ghana Premier League match against Nations FC to the Tuba Astroturf.The 2025 edition of the championship will feature national school teams from 46 countries, with the participating teams having qualified through zonal qualifiers held between October 2024 and January 2025.
