GJA Sets March Deadline for Update on Ahmed Suale’s Murder Case.

The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has given authorities until the end of March 2025 to provide a significant update on the unresolved murder of investigative journalist Ahmed Suale. Driver Caught on CCTV Stealing Phones Faces Court Charges.

A 20-year-old driver, Kwabena Gyimah, nicknamed "69," has been arraigned before an Accra Circuit Court for stealing mobile phones from a journalist and two others at Sakumono, Community 17.Captured on CCTV, Gyimah was seen entering the journalist’s property, leading to three charges of unlawful entry and stealing. His accomplice, known as “Coded,” remains at large.The court, presided over by Mr. Samuel Bright Acquah, granted Gyimah a GHC 50,000 bail with three sureties and ordered weekly reporting to the police. The case has been adjourned to February 4, 2025.Police investigations recovered one stolen phone from a shop at Kwame Nkrumah Circle, while Gyimah admitted in his statement to selling all the stolen items to “Coded.”

Tamale Youth Remanded for Vandalism Amid Government Transition.

Nine individuals in Tamale have been remanded in custody by the Tamale District Magistrate Court for allegedly vandalizing a Volvo motor grader owned by businessman Wahid Yakubu. The suspects, aged between 20 and 51, reportedly stormed the repair site, claiming the vehicle belonged to the government and should be seized due to the political transition.The police arrested the suspects and retrieved tools, including gas cylinders, hammers, and chisels, used in the act. Police Investigate Alleged Attack on Asantehene’s Convoy in Techiman.

The Ghana Police Service is investigating an alleged attack on the convoy of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, which reportedly occurred on December 2, 2024, in Techiman, Bono East Region.According to a police statement, the incident happened as the Asantehene was returning from a funeral in Nkoranza. Some youth, believed to be residents of Techiman, allegedly threw stones at buses in the convoy.The police have confirmed engaging with the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi and other stakeholders in Techiman to aid their ongoing investigation.“We urge the public to remain calm and cooperate with the Police as the investigation into the matter continues,” the statement added.This incident has drawn widespread attention due to the stature of the Asantehene, one of Ghana’s most prominent traditional leaders.
