Cholera Outbreak Hits Greater Accra: Nine Confirmed Cases.
The Ghana Health Service has reported nine confirmed cases of cholera in the Ada West and East Districts within the Greater Accra Region. The initial case emerged on October 4, 2024, when an individual exhibited symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain shortly after attending a funeral in Ada East.Following the first case, additional cholera infections were identified in the Ada East District. In response, the Ghana Health Service has implemented several public health measures to contain the outbreak. These measures include the establishment of Public Health Management Committees at various administrative levels, ongoing outbreak investigations, and environmental assessments to prevent further spread of the disease.To ensure effective control, daily active community case searches are being conducted, and strict infection prevention protocols have been enforced in all health facilities.
