Rethinking ‘Son of the Soil’ Politics in the North East Region.
The North East Region of Ghana is being urged not to rely solely on the "son of the soil" political strategy, which is often used to promote candidates based on their local ties. While this approach has been a part of Ghana’s politics since independence, relying on it too heavily could have negative consequences.Historically, political parties in Ghana have used regional and ethnic identities to their advantage, but this sometimes led to unfair distribution of resources and exclusion of certain groups.
